It has become an important place for startups to gain momentum.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, over 50% of attendees from organisations are key decision-making individuals, and\u00a063% of attendees are looking for new business opportunities (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sxsw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/SXSW-2016-Demographics.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.sxsw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/SXSW-2016-Demographics.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1491883710689000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEfjHoMXiIxgxJROHKm4SrNU0B-PA\" rel=\"noopener\">2016 report<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Startups vie for a chance to pitch at\u00a0its annual Accelerator Pitch Competition. \u00a0Since 2009, SXSW Accelerator has <strong>showcased more than 300 startups<\/strong> and report that 63% of them went on to secure a combined $2.6 billion in funding, and that 13% have since been acquired by the likes of Google, British Telecom, Huffington Post, Apple, and Live Nation. \u00a0The event is also famous for having seen\u00a0the<strong> launch of Twitter in 2007 and Foursquare in 2009<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a glimpse of the insights\u00a0we&rsquo;ve learnt from SXSW 2017:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Biotech industry is bound for disruption.
