This ecosystem enables them to <strong>refine ideas, create prototypes and manufacture their products at lower costs.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, Shenzhen <strong>houses the entire hardware supply chain<\/strong>. This involves <strong>retailers to component suppliers, factories, IoT incubators and a growing makers community. \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China is still the manufacturing centre of the world, but there\u2019s no doubt that more and more innovation is coming out of the country at a rapid pace.\u00a0<i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal is to locate where innovation occurs so we can participate in the supply chain<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scmp.com\/tech\/china-tech\/article\/1895081\/flex-plans-launch-technology-accelerator-venture-mainland-china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said Flextronics chief executive Mike McNamara to South China Morning Post last December<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flextronics is a Singapore-based giant of electronic manufacturing, second only to Foxconn. \u00a0The company, which is also the main manufacturer of Lenovo products, is <strong>planning to launch a startup accelerator in China.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flextronics has been one of the <strong>pioneers of industrial IoT<\/strong>. It began incubating an intrapreneurial IIoT project<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elementum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elementum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2012, which then became a spin-off of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0We were inspired by cloud companies such as Salesforce or Workday, a startup managing HR and financial data in the cloud, which is now valued more than $15bn. Supply chain and logistics are a bigger industry, so in case we thought that if we manage to apply the same combination of cloud-based software and fast execution, results could be huge.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project grew to a <strong>100-employee startup within 2 years<\/strong>. In 2014, its value grew to <strong>US$220 million<\/strong> after its Series B funding.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Industry 4.0 : Singapore\u2019s IIoT solution vendors \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facing various constraints on hiring foreign labour<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the high labour costs, <strong>Singaporean manufacturers are embracing the advent of IoT. \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>Singapore Manufacturing Consortium (<\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.singaporemanufacturingconsortium.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SIMCO<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>)<\/strong> has assembled some of the<strong> most advanced solutions providers in Singapore<\/strong> to <strong>spur local manufacturers to become smart factories in the future. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5053\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5053\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5053\" src=\"http:\/\/innovao.cluster030.hosting.ovh.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/industry-4.0-simco.png\" alt=\"industry 4.0 simco\" width=\"1000\" height=\"888\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5053\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SIMCO boasts to host a collection of industry players aimed at ushering Singapore into the next industial age (Photo by SIMCO)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SIMCO is a <strong>non-profit organization formed in July 2015<\/strong> which aims to be a<strong> one-stop shop for manufacturers seeking manufacturing solutions. \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re assembling the best proven and tested solutions from the most advanced local companies to help propel Singapore manufacturers ahead in the Industry 4.0 race.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">says Willson Deng, the Chairman and spokesperson for SIMCO. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The three founding members of SIMCO are <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/arcstoneincorporated.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arcstone<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a manufacturing data analytics startup,<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.evercomm.com.sg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evercomm<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> an energy management platform and the ad-hoc freight transactions management platform<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cargobase.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cargobase<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a growing period for us. We have clients in Singapore and in the US and we are opening offices in Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Philippines<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">explains Willson.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Industry 4.0 : The Road Ahead for Singapore\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Willson, the goal is to build an ecosystem of manufacturing solution vendors around a real-time data infrastructure. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This could be the<strong> determining factor<\/strong> in giving Singapore a <strong>competitive advantage<\/strong> to <strong>lead the Industry 4.0 revolution. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Singapore\u2019s manufacturing industry sits at a <strong>very critical time<\/strong> in its advancement. It has matured to a stage where <strong>fighting alone on cost and quality may be a losing one based on surrounding competition and global trends<\/strong>. Singapore has the opportunity to transform itself into a <strong>data connected manufacturing powerhouse<\/strong>. (Photo by YourStory)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/yourstory.com\/2016\/05\/industrial-iot-smart-factory-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indian factories are getting smarter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with startups like<\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/altizon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Altizon<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrib.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entrib<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covacsis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covacsis Technologies<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> playing a major role in the integrated factory ecosystem. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Altizon\u2019s Datonis platform connects devices such as factory machines using a series of sensors and software development kits (SDKs).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entrib\u2019s main product ShopWorx aims to make manufacturing shop floors more efficient by providing real-time control and visibility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Covacsis Technologies has developed an Intelligent Plant Framework solution that provides real time data from machines on the shop floor as well, allowing manufacturers to cut down on wastage and organise production flows.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Industry 4.0 : Global Players Invest in India<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most notably, Bosch GmbH CEO Volkmar Denner announced a <strong>Industry 4.0 revolution within the company<\/strong>. He defines Industry 4.0 as the <strong>use of networks and devices in factories with zero or little human intervention in manufacturing products.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bosch intends transform its <strong>250 factories into smart factories, including those in India.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5056\" style=\"width: 744px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5056\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5056\" src=\"http:\/\/innovao.cluster030.hosting.ovh.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/industry-4.0-bosch-india.jpg\" alt=\"industry 4.0 bosch india\" width=\"734\" height=\"452\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5056\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bosch GmbH envisions smart factories as an inevitable journey for manufacturing leaders. The plant boasts to <strong>show the <a href=\"http:\/\/yourstory.com\/2016\/05\/idgvi-digital-consumer-innovators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">efficiency of using robotics and guiding production cycle through automated <\/a><\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/yourstory.com\/2016\/05\/idgvi-digital-consumer-innovators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">platforms.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<em>Connected factories will <strong>sync global production and supply chains<\/strong>.
